Position overview

As a Welder in our Steel Fabrication department, you will MIG weld the high-density steel frames at the heart of every Atlantis Strength machine. Since 1982, our Laval plant has built premium strength equipment trusted by gyms across North America, and the structural welds you lay carry a 10-year warranty.

Working from technical drawings and precision jigs, you will produce clean, consistent welds that meet demanding quality standards. You will join a unionized team of experienced tradespeople who take real pride in their craft, with stable full-time hours, modern equipment, and the satisfaction of building machines made to last.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding on high-density steel frames according to technical drawings and specifications
  • Set up and use welding jigs and fixtures to ensure dimensional accuracy
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, weld symbols, and work orders
  • Perform fit-up and tack welding of components before final welding
  • Adjust welding parameters such as voltage, wire speed, and gas flow for each type of joint
  • Inspect welds visually and verify conformity to quality standards before releasing parts
  • Grind, clean, and prepare welded assemblies for the painting department
  • Detect and report non-conformities, defects, or drawing errors to the team leader
  • Maintain welding equipment and perform basic preventive maintenance
  • Keep the workstation clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety rules
  • Collaborate with fabrication, machining, and assembly teams to meet production deadlines
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by proposing ideas on methods, jigs, and workflow

Required qualifications

  • Vocational diploma (DEP) in welding and fitting or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Minimum of two years of MIG welding experience on steel in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and weld symbols
  • Knowledge of welding quality standards and inspection methods
  • Verbal communication skills in French
  • Good physical condition, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 55 lbs
